Valentine's Day
A bouquet of roses. A box of assorted chocolates. A handwritten card. A necklace, a bracelet, a pair of earrings. A dinner by candlelight.
I love all of these romantic acts!
What I don't love, though, is how easily we buy into the delusion that acts of romance can form the foundation for a good marriage.
Romance results from a healthy relationship, but a healthy relationship does not grow in the soil of romance.
Rather, the Bible teaches that a marriage of unity, understanding and love is rooted in worship.
This link https://www.paultripp.com/what-did-you-expect will take you to some marriage material by Paul David Tripp. Our church family went through this study not too long ago and the Lord really used it as a tool to strengthen our marriage. I pray it does the same for you.
Enjoy your Valentine's Day this year. Go all out with romance. But don't fool yourself or your spouse into thinking that one romantic evening will pave the way for a beautiful marriage.
